THE annual meeting of the Lancaster Cup sponsored by Atlas International was held last week and the draw was made for cricket teams taking part in the 2005 competition. Regrettably only 11 teams entered with the withdrawal of Milton Abbot and Elephant?s Nest. However Spreyton and Walkham Valley have both entered and have ironically been drawn against each other in the first round. The final will be held at Lewdown, last year?s cup winners, on Friday July 15 with a provisional rain off date of July 18. Lewdown face Tavistock in the 1st round with last year?s runners up Bridestowe playing host to Chagford in the other ?match of the round?. The full draw is: 1st Round ? Lifton vs Bye, Tavistock vs Lewdown, Buckland vs Bye, Bridestowe vs Chagford, Spreyton vs Walkham Valley, Hatherleigh vs Bye, Whitchurch vs Bye, Belstone vs Bye. 2nd Round ? Lifton vs Tavistock or Lewdown, Buckland vs Bridestowe or Chagford, Spreyton or Walkham Valley vs Hatherleigh, Bridestowe vs Whitchurch.
