access to the Anchorage Centre has been made easier by new electronic doors, thanks to grants from the Clare Milne Trust, the Norman Family Trust, the Devonian Trust and the Nothcott Devon Foundation, Andy Lyle, general manager of Tavistock Area Support Services which owns the Anchorage Centre, said: ?With the increasing number of groups who use the Anchorage Centre, the grants to make this possible have made a huge difference to our clients with mobility problems. ?It has meant they do not have to rely on someone to hold doors open, they can now be accessed by touch pads allowing independent access to our centre?. Judi Thornberry, from the Stroke Association which meets at The Anchorage Centre, said: ?It is wonderful to see people who once struggled to access the centre, have control for themselves on entering and leaving the building ? these grants have made such a difference to people?s lives.? Many groups meet at the centre ? for more information on these and to find out more about the work of Tavistock Area Support Services contact Andy Lyle on 01822 616958.
