A WEST Devon youngster is hoping to raise enough money to send a ShelterBox to Haiti by holding a special sale this weekend.
Eight-year-old Zara Pitts from Bratton Clovelly was keen to do something to help the victims of the Haiti earthquake, after hearing about the disaster at school and on the television.
With the help of her mother Dawn, and her older sister, Jasmin, eleven, the family has organised the event, which will include a bring and buy, table top and car boot sales, a jewellery and crafts stall, a cake stall, cream teas, face painting, tuck shop and other activities.
Dawn Pitts said: 'Zara has been fundraising at school and she has seen the story on TV and she wanted to know what we could do to help. It is so amazing when children think to do something that isn't for them. People in the village have all got together and everyone wants to know what they can do to help.'
People are encouraged to bring unwanted presents to the sale, and any items that may raise money. Tables are also available at £5, for anyone wanting to sell their own goods.
Zara, a pupil at Boasley Cross School, said: 'We want lots of money to be raised for Haiti.'
The Haiti Sale will take place this Saturday, from 2pm to 5pm at Bratton Clovelly Parish Hall.
