STAFF from Tavistock’s TSB bank have been active in the community working with young people to teach them about money management.

Bankers from the branch recently visited St Rumon’s Junior School and St Peter’s Primary School to teach children more about finance.

Emma Smith, local banker in Tavistock, said: ‘It was great to visit the schools to teach the children about money management through our ‘it all adds up’ programme.

‘It’s never too early, or too late, to start learning about money and the habits and skills we all need to become money savvy adults. We hope that the time we’ve spent with the schools will help the local community here in Tavistock.’

A spokesperson from Tavistock Church Schools Federation said: ‘We are really grateful to Emma and her colleagues. They delivered fun sessions that helped the children across both of our schools to learn about money management.

‘The specially developed work books really got the children thinking about what its like to manage finances in the home.’

TSB has developed a number of workshops primarily aimed at young people aged between five-years-old and 18-years-old which can be delivered in local schools or community groups.

Workshops for fraud awareness and employability skills workshops have also been adapted to suit an adult audience, with a particular focus on older people and vulnerable groups.

As well as its schools and community workshops, TSB also partners with local charities and since 2015 has partnered with over 900 charities, making donations of over £1-million.
