AN Okehampton pre-school has been nominated by the public to be entered into a national competition with the chance to win a £500.

Treetops Pre-school has been become a finalist in this year’s Sudocrem Play More campaign, which encourages children to play outside.

The competition works by members of the public nominating nurseries that go above and beyond to get children outside and playing.

The 15 most deserving nurseries will then receive either a £500 grant, a toy shed or a mural.

Studies have shown that children spend as little as five hours outside each week, as opposed to 45.5 hours in front of a television. Sudocrem’s Play More campaign aims to improve nursery playgrounds, encouraging young children to make the most of the outside.
