Feniton 3rds 1 Okehampton 3rds 3 OKEHAMPTON suffered an unsettled run up to this game, losing Chris Bongey to injury in the pre-match warm up and forgetting their kit. Once the game kicked off, however, Okehampton showed no signs of discouragement and soon took the lead, Barry Monnox tapping in from five yards after good build up work from Holland and Wooldridge. Feniton did equalise when a mis-hit cross found its way into the top corner over the hands of the despairing keeper Mike Pikey. Okehampton then dominated the rest of the half and Beardy released Wood with a defence splitting pass, but he saw his first shot well saved and the follow up deflected round the post by the recovering defender. Okehampton soon restored their lead when Monnox was sent clean after some neat play by Wood in the centre circle, and he cleanly slotted the ball home. At half-time Okehampton held a slender 2-1 lead. Okehampton kicked off the second half playing up the hill, knowing they would have to defend well to protect their lead. Paul Prowse, the captain, led from the front, making crucial tackles and interceptions. Mike Pikey in goal also produced numerous goal saves to keep the lead intact. The Okehampton midfield played well, all showing great fitness and agility in their running all match long. Okehampton then wrapped up the win when Eddy, who had hassled the Feniton defence all day long, found Coleman who released Holland to coolly slot home. Men of the match: Wood, Pikey and Prowse.
