Tavistock v Barton

WHAT should have been a tense top of the table match turned into a stroll for Tavistock.

Barton were put in to bat and thanks to accurate bowling from Wayne Downham (4-30) and Aaron Pethick (3-33) were soon in trouble at 45 for 6. Opener Adderley the only batsman able to keep them out.

After 16 overs Jamie Stephens came on and bowled a brilliant spell of 4.2-4-4, the four runs coming off the only scoring stroke against him, to wrap up their innings for only 71.

The Tavistock reply stuttered briefly when both openers were dispatched for 16.

Matt Witcher (21) and a watchfull John McGahey (8no) then added 44 for the next wicket before Phil Stephens came in to finish the job in just 24 overs.
