THE village of Broadwoodkelly will have causes for celebration this Saturday — as the first event in the newly-repaired village hall takes place.
Structural repairs on the Victorian village hall have just been completed — thanks to grants from West Devon Borough Council and the Community Council of Devon.
Work has taken several months and involved rebuilding the chimney, strengthening the end wall and insulating and making safe the ceiling.
Further refurbishment work will also be funded by the borough council and the Community Council of Devon and will start later in the year.
The hall, built in 1875, was originally the local school and was handed over to the parish at the beginning of 1945.
It is well used by this small community and fund-raising events are regularly held on the premises.
An Easter supper and beetle drive will be held in the hall on Saturday, April 10 from 6pm to 8pm.
There will be plenty of Easter eggs for the lucky winners.
