THERE is a welcome visit to The Wharf for talented chamber musicians, Hannah Lang, flute, and Peter Hewitt, piano, on Saturday October 18.
Two rising young stars, Hannah and Peter are widely in demand for their enthralling performances, so don?t miss this opportunity to hear them in a programme of music by Bach, Mozart, Poulenc, Sullivan and Schumann and featuring the dazzling Fantasia on themes from Bizet?s Carmen by François Borne.
Hannah Lang graduated with distinction from her studies at Trinity College of Music in 1992.
While at Trinity she formed a highly successful duo with pianist Peter Hewitt with whom she has given numerous recitals.
The duo were also members of Sir Yehudi Menuhin?s Live Music Now!, a charity which takes music to people who would otherwise have no opportunity of hearing it live.
Hannah is widely in demand as a soloist as well as a chamber musician. She has performed all of Mozart?s works for flute and orchestra as well as concerti by C P E Bach, Saint-Saens and George Huë. From 1996-2000 Hannah was editor of the journal of the British Flute Society, Pan magazine.
Since leaving college Hannah has enjoyed a combined career including performing, teaching and music administration.
Peter Hewitt devotes his music making to chamber music and lieder.
Over the last ten years he has built up many partnerships giving an average of 60 concerts each season collaborating with international musicians. His recital work has taken him all around the UK, America, and the Middle East.
This autumn he is performing a series of recitals with baritone Damian Thantrey that conclude with a performance at the Purcell Room on London?s South Bank. His latest disc, of Beethoven?s Op 10 piano sonatas, was released this month to great acclaim.
