AT the last official meeting of the now disbanded Tavistock branch of the Dunkirk Veterans' Association it was decided which organisations would benefit from their finances.
Charles Croucher, 81, who was secretary and standard bearer with the branch, said members agreed last week that £200 would be donated to Children's Hospice South West.
St Luke's Hospice would receive £200; Tavistock Royal British Legion benevolent fund would get £250 and the remainder was to go to the Dunkirk Veterans' benevolent fund which is held by the Royal British Legion.
The Tavistock branch has been in existence since 1979. The standard has been laid-up and was handed to the church at a recent service marking the end of the branch and the disbandment of the association nationally.
Mr Croucher said disposing of their finance was the last official act the remining members had to do.
'We have decided that we will go down to the Royal British Legion for a pint and a sandwich and a natter on an informal basis,' he said.
