AN EAST Cornwall pre-school has been awarded 'outstanding' in its recent Ofsted report.

Inspectors praised Ducklings Pre-School at Venterdon, Stoke Climsland, and said staff met the requirements of the early years foundation stage framework 'exceptionally well.'

The report said staff had an excellent awareness of children's individual needs and promoted inclusion thoroughly.

'Children thrive in the highly stimulating and interesting environment,' said inspectors. 'Children make excellent progress and take a keen interest in activities, developing good concentration and independent skills.'

Ducklings pre-school opened in 1979 and there are currently 33 children on the roll with six employed staff.

Manager Sarah Dawson said: 'We are absolutely thrilled with the report and thank the staff, committee and parents for all their hard work and hope that we can continue our success.'
