DUCHY College travelled to Truro City Football Club to take part in the final of the RC Roberts Under 18s Shield against Truro College. Duchy reached the final by beating Newquay Tretherras in the second round, then St Austell College. Duchy College met Liskeard Community College in the semi finals and beat them 4-2aet to reach the final for the first time in their history. The final at Truro City proved to be a massive test for the Duchy team. The first ten minutes were dominated by Truro, but Duchy College took the lead in the 20th minute with a goal from Jack Bartlett, and went in at half time 1-0 up. The defence was put under immense pressure but goalkeeper Daniel Stevenson was outstanding. With ten minutes remaining Duchy College broke away and Andrew House coolly slotted away the second goal. In the last minute of the game Peter Styring was fouled on the edge of the box and Chris Goldthorpe hit a superb free kick to win the cup for Duchy College. This was the first time in the 29 year history of the competition that Duchy have won the Shield and it was even nicer to beat Truro in the final, who had won the shield for the previous three years.
