AN exhibition of stunning new work by Dual Aspect Photography opened at Dartmoor National Park Authority's High Moorland Visitor Centre in Princetown on Saturday.
The exhibition captures the beauty of Dartmoor's churches, with images on a landscape scale complementing more detailed close-up studies.
Dual Aspect Photography is owned and operated by husband and wife photographers Thomas and Pat Dobner.
Both semi-professional photographers from Newton Abbot, they enjoy nothing better than spending their leisure time together taking photographs outdoors.
Thomas, 36, said: 'Wherever you are churches are often the most obvious, the most historic and the most aesthetically appealing signs of the impact of people on the environment.
'The spires and steeples are generally the tallest structures in any village and the churches themselves dominate the landscape wherever they stand.
'Built from locally sourced granite many of the churches on Dartmoor have a great synergy with the natural landscape and blend with their surroundings as if they truly belong.'
'Churches, therefore, often make interesting photographic subjects. Not only do they bring life and scale to the landscape in which they are located, but upon closer inspection their architecture and decorative interiors provide a wealth of opportunities for abstract studies and it is only up close that the eclectic variety of styles, building methods, designs and detailing can be fully appreciated.'
Thomas prefers wide-angle landscape photography, packing in as much detail as possible into his images to bring the viewer into the scene as if being there themselves.
Pat tends to focus on the smaller details within a location to produce graphic images of the world in close up.
Pat, 40, said: 'Our differing perspectives allow us to extract very different images from every location, and to ensure that wherever we travel together we always come home with a diverse set of images which captures the essence of the location in a variety of ways. This is what gives us our "Dual Aspect" on the world around us.'
The exhibition at the High Moorland Visitor Centre runs until Wednesday, April 14. The centre is open daily and is accessible by public transport. Telephone traveline on 0871 200 2233 for public transport information.
