EACH year Tavistock Area Support Services appeals for volunteer drivers to help deliver its service — and 2014 is no exception.

With the development of Transport to Health, the TASS volunteer drivers covered more than 80,000 miles and carried more than 4,500 passengers in 2013/14. Each drive is different, journeys could be to Derriford, Royal Devon and Exeter or even as far away as Addenbrooke's.

For people who can no longer drive, the voluntary car service makes a big difference to them accessing their appointments and through the role of volunteers the difference can be life changing.

Each volunteer is special and TASS regards them as more than just car drivers as they get to know the person they take probably better than the doctor or consultant they see.

If you feel you could offer a few hours a week to make a difference to someone's life, contact Bernice on 01822 617525.
