RETAINED firefighters in Tavistock assisted Bere Alston firefighters to release a woman driver following a road traffic collision near Gulworthy last Tuesday. On Wednesday the crews were called to tackle a fire in an airing cupboard in a property at Boughthayes, Tavistock. The following day firecrews were called out just after midnight to extinguish a blaze which badly damaged a shelter in the Meadows. The crew also attended a road traffic collision at Lamerton at 5.30am on December 3. And new recruit Ross Glover attended his first incident on Monday, when he helped rescue a young child who had activated the central locking system of a car in Parkwood Road, becoming trapped inside.
