WEST Devon based singer/songwriter Phill Amaani has just achieved a long cherished ambition and released a CD of his original material.

Phill wrote most of the songs in the last four years but some were written in the early 90?s when he was suffering from severe depression.

As a result of his own experiences Phill, who lives in Tavistock, is co-founder of MusicBox which meets regularly.

?It is a project designed to help people with mental health problems to rebuild their confidence and skills and feel included in the community,? he said.

Phill was able to take a break in August and spend time in the Piano Kitchen in Horrabridge to produce and record his CD of original contemporary songs in his folk/rock style.

These lyrical and soulful songs, some of which have never been recorded have all been written during the past 10 years. They reflect episodes in his life and relate to his experiences.

Phill was able to utilise support from his friends who all feature on this album and he says he would like to acknowledge the wealth of musical talent that exists in the Tamar Valley.

Included on the recording are Alex Peters, Ian Goodall, James Crocker, Katherine Roberts and Pete Langford to name but a few.

On the CD Phill has included ?Heart with No Name?, which is his most requested song when appearing in local pubs, clubs and at festivals.

Phill currently performs and hosts music evenings with his friend Pete Langford of Armitage and Shanks at the Elephant?s Nest on the first Wednesday of the month and at the Tamar Inn, Calstock on the last Friday.

Phill is grateful for the expertise of Sean Lakeman in facilitating this recording in a professional yet relaxed manner.

?Damaged in Transit? is available from wwwmusicbox.me.uk or by email: [email protected]">[email protected]

A percentage of its sales will go to the MusicBox project based in Tavistock. Copies of the CD will be on sale at venues where Phill is performing.
