Devon Junior and Minor U16s Howe
Second Battery Colts 2
Tavistock Town U16s 2
TAVISTOCK showed no signs of the long weather affected layoff when they produced arguably their best performance of the season. Town started the game with Sam Turner reverting to a more attacking role and Josh Midson-Holmes switching to the left.
The home side were relying on their one touch short passing game, but were no match throughout the first half for a Tavistock side who continually caused them problems with sweeping moves which capitalised on Colts lack of defensive speed. Turner, McClung and Midson-Holmes were a constant thorn in the side of defenders who were forced into long ball tactics just to relieve the incessant pressure.
Prompted by a hard working midfield of Pete Page, Charlie Gale and James Young, Town continued to pressurise the home defence.
After the break the pattern of the game continued and it was no surprise when the dangerous Sam Turner provided a neat ball for Josh Midson-Holmes to open the scoring by lifting the ball over the advancing keeper, giving Tavistock a deserved goal.
Tavistock' s back four who had been dominant throughout somehow then contrived to let an innocuous free kick drift into the far corner of the net to give Colts a rather fortunate leveller.
On 70 minutes Tavistock went ahead when Turner provided another intelligent ball for Matt McClung to pass into an empty net. Tavistock had more chances to wrap the game up but were caught out when Colts scored with a well taken goal.
Matt Heard is growing in confidence between the posts and complimented Brad Crack and Tommy Cole who provided strength and ability at fullbacks. Central defenders Matt White and Karl Howel-Andrews were also dominant form.
