Whitchurch v Ipplepen

WITH the Whitchurch outfield at its best this was always set to be a high scoring match.

Ipplepen opting to bat first the score moved along at a good pace with Tucket (78) sharing stands of 36 and 86 before Whitchurch got among the wickets. Kerswill chipped in with three to add to his four in a previous match, Rushton (2) and Sherrell (2) providing valuable support.

The fielders played their roles on a hot afternoon.

On 188 for seven the game was finely balanced, both sides reasonably happy.

Ipplepen's Quartley had other ideas, coming in at number eight he set about the bowling with a blistering not out 102 that effectively took the game away.

A final score of 320 was too much.

Churchill (26) and Meadows (35) provided early resistance and veteran Credicott's 47 made the game safe but it was all about gaining points.

Sambell's in typical fashion brought the score to close at 200 before both sides accepted a draw.
