STREET names for three new developments in West Devon were announced last week. Members of West Devon Borough Council's environment and community committee heard the proposed names during a meeting on Tuesday, January 22. The name proposed by the developer for the new development in Plymouth Road, Tavistock, was Drakes Meadow. The alternative name, suggested by Tavistock Town Council, was Phillpots Gardens. Members of the committee decided on Drakes Meadow. The new development of six flats in Bere Alston was suggested as Chestnut Close or School Close by the developer for the new properties. The committee decided on Chestnut Close. And the new development in Hatherleigh, consisting of 27 properties, was suggested as Vicks Meadow or Hadreleia Meadow by the developer of the new houses. The committee decided upon Vicks Meadow.
