THE silver President's Trophy team on July 31 played their last match. This was the away fixture against Tiverton.

Unfortunately, Okehampton lost, though not without a fight, the final score being 4-3 to Tiverton — not a bad result, when you realise Okehampton had to field some bronze ladies, due to a shortage of silver players.

Tiverton are now through to the finals, winning on countback to Woodbury. If Okehampton had won on Monday they would have had the same points as Tiverton and Woodbury and been involved in the countback.

The Creasy team also had news that they have also missed out on the finals by half a point.

On the ladies' day, which as regular readers know by now is Wednesday, the ladies played their qualifying medal.

Conditions were not as good as last week, and no ladies played below par. But, with a good score of net 72, was the winning lady Chris Stevens; in second place was Cherry James with net 73 and third was Mo Huggins with net 74.

l Okehampton Golf Club ladies' section press officer apologises for giving an incorrect competition result.

The competition was the July stableford; in the first place as reported was Lyn Atkinson, but in second place with 36 points was Kay King.
