Okehampton Argyle boys showed their strength and character during the plate final at Tedburn St Mary.
Their opponents Pinhoe Panthers put up a strong fight on what was an extremely blustery day.
Argyle with the wind to their advantage during the first half were the dominant side and had three goals behind them at the end of the first half.
In the second half, fighting against the wind Argyle found it hardgoing and Pinhoe made a good recovery bringing the score back level at three-all.
The Argyle lads never gave up and continued battling fiercely. Their determination was rewarded when they found the back of the net to pull ahead once again. To seal their win they scored again shortly before the final whistle to finish the game 5-3.
Eight members of the team through a series of traning sessions secured a place to represent Okehampton U12s at the Exeter city centre of Excellence tournament on Sunday, held at Feniton Football Club.
There were 22 U12s' teams entered and the standard of football was very high with Argyle winning three by 1-0 and drawing three.
In the quarter finals against Westexe the Okehampton team showed their passion and determination in extremely hot weather to win 2-0.
In the semis they met Bude and a disciplined Argyle side sailed to the final with another 2 0 win.
The final against Select Soccer saw Argyle's fitness showing in the second half and scoring two late goals to secure them as proud and worthy champions.
Credit must go to all eight boys for a fantastic team performance but a special mention to the defenders and goalkeeper, the facts speak for themselves only one goal was conceded by Argyle during the whole tournament.
