ORGANISERS of a charity walk across the moors were delighted to receive two-way radios from a generous Princetown resident recently.

Mike Fitzpatrick, secretary of the Civil Service Retirement Fellowship, donated four two-way radios to the organisers of the Barchester Heroes Walk the first annual sponsored walk raising money for Help for Heroes and the Barchester Foundation.

The event, taking place in Princetown on September 4, will consist of a seven mile and a 12 mile walk. There will also be a specialised walk for local residents of Barchester Foundation care homes, who have physical and complex needs.

The radios will help with communication across the moors during the walks.

Zoe Vanstone from the Barchester Foundation said: This is a very generous gift which will help significantly on the day.
