A NEWLY formed gardening club at Lewtrenchard Primary School recently received a gift from the Devon Gardens Trust. Children from the club received hand-tools worth £80 which they can now use on the garden sited at the back of school grounds, by nature reserves around the school. The club is run by the school's administrator Ann Lane and the garden is tended to by children from years 3 to 6. Alison Sedgewick, headteacher, said: 'The children are so enthusiastic about the garden and have great plans, they are even bringing in plants from home. We will soon have enough to set up our own farm shop,' she joked. 'We are hoping to use the produce from the garden in the school kitchen — we are making the most of what we have got.' The club has also been donated car tyres which the children will paint and use as planters. A parent has also donated some railway sleepers which will be used to create a vegetable patch.
