AT a recent meeting of Okehampton Town Council's parks committee, councillors were concerned about the continuing problem of dog fouling around the town.
Observations of dog fouling had been predominant in Abbey Rise and Portugal Way in particular.
Committee members agreed to conduct a letter drop along Portugal Way, working with the borough council, but said it was essentially down to the disregard of a few dog owners who do not pick up litter after their dogs.
Councillors also addressed the issue of unauthorised domestic waste disposal. The park-keeper had reported a few instances of domestic rubbish bags being left near bins in Simmons Park or filling the park bins. Contact addresses had been found for the offenders and the town clerk agreed to write to the offending parties.
