HOW do local people cope with A&E? Do they all dial 999?

We are both pensioners and my husband recently cut his finger (almost off) whilst repairing our roof.

At 7.20pm I quickly got the car out and headed for Okehampton A&E completely forgetting that it was closed.

Having been turned away, we headed for Exeter (Launceston has none either). Arriving at 9.35pm we had no idea where A&E was and had to ask several people.

Eventually, we found it and after waiting for one and a half hours he was seen and we were off home — back in Ashwater by 1.30am. Exhausted!
