GET your dancing shoes out — there's an opportunity to hit the floor at a new nightclub venue in Tavistock next month.

Dizzy's will be staged at the Wharf on a regular, monthly basis, providing something a little different for residents who do not want the bother of travelling to Plymouth for the night.

Angela Court, of the Wharf, said: 'For quite some time, a lot of our customers have been saying there isn't anywhere to go in Tavistock for a dance and for a few drinks — there's no nightclub-type place.

'What we thought we would do is team up with a good DJ and party organiser, to run a nightclub with dance music ourselves, on a regular basis throughout the year.

'That way, everyone knows there's a place in Tavistock you can go to dance around your handbag — rather than pay vast amounts of money to go in to Plymouth, they'll be able to do it on their doorstep.'

Ultimately, Angela said she would like Dizzy's to take place on a regular date in the month, in the same way as the Wharf stages its popular blues nights on the first Thursday of the month.

Dizzy's will be for over 21s and will have a smart dress code. The entrance will be just £5, and the Wharf's barbecue will be open for hot food. Opening times will be 8.30pm until late.

Angela said: 'The disco is Time Machine and basically the whole premises will become Dizzy's for the night.

'There will be good disco music from the 60s, 70s, 80s and a bit from the 90s, stuff that's really good to dance to — definitely not anything really heavy.

'We think it's a great idea and we hope it will go down well. It will mean you don't have the hassle of transport to Plymouth — you can even walk here and back if you live in Tavistock.'

The next time Dizzy's comes to Tavistock is on Friday February 11. For more information, call the Wharf on 01822 611166.
