STAFF AT Tesco in Callington are joining thousands of other Tesco employees across the UK and dressing up as favourite Disney characters tomorrow (Friday) in a bid to encourage customers to give generously and help raise vital funds for people with dementia.
At the same time, Christmas cards designed by pupils at Gunnislake and Delaware Primary Schools will be on sale, with all profits going to the cause.
Ancient Art Falconry will be helping with the fundraising with their 'Stroke An Owl For A £1' event in the store foyer on both December 16 and 21.
Together, Alzheimer's Society and Alzheimer Scotland are Tesco Charity of the Year 2011 which is helping to raise £5-million to build a better future for people with dementia.
The partnership will fund new research, dementia support professionals to help those living with the condition and a Dementia Community Roadshow that will travel around the UK for three years.
Tesco Callington's fundraising will go towards helping 300 people live better with dementia for every day of the partnership.
Gary Wills, store manager, said: 'We wanted to involve local children and their families in our efforts to raise vital funds for this very worthwhile cause.
'We hope it will make it an extra special experience for them to enjoy their favourite Disney characters while they shop and to be able to get up close to wildlife, as well as to see their own designs turned into Christmas cards. We want to put the fun into fundraising.'
