WHILST receiving my ballot paper for the county election (this was the first county election I have voted in) I was shocked to see the polling officer, tie my ballot paper serial number to my electoral number.  I left in disgust.

Britain as democracy should be a leading example to the world, a system honed over centuries.  While rigging elections is anti-democratic, trading the principle democratic right to a private vote for the sake of fraud detection is unjustified.

This is in stark contrast to the EU elections.  For a regime that, when the people of a country disagree with it, say wrong answer and tell them to vote again, they at least allow them to do it on anonymous ballot papers. Democracy indeed!
