CYCLISTS from all over West Devon and Plymouth are coming together on Saturday, January 26 to discuss the creation of a direct cycle path parallel to the A386, from Yelverton to the city.
A public meeting has been organised by Plymouth Cycling Campaign and will be held from 11am to 1pm at Clearbrook Village Hall.
For at least 20 years cyclists have campaigned for an off-road path from the boundary of Plymouth to Yelverton.
John Abraham from the Plymouth Cycling Campaign said: ‘The A386 across Roborough Down between Yelverton and Plymouth is now used by large numbers of cyclists for both leisure rides and commuting. Traffic on this road has increased massively in recent years, making cycling dangerous. Large housing developments at Tavistock and in the north of Plymouth will generate even more traffic.
‘We propose a direct cycle path parallel to the A386 suitable for both leisure and faster commuting cyclists.’
