Duchy league division 2 Foxhole 2 Lamerton 5 LAMERTON travelled down to Foxhole having already beaten them twice and came away with the three points after a physical and niggly encounter. They started brightly and after five minutes a precise through ball from the impressive Kev Swift was squared by Pete Broomfield for Dave Byworth to tap in. Foxhole had a decent chance to equalise but keeper Pete Daniel made an excellent save. The lead was then deservedly doubled when a long Paul Breyley free kick was headed in by Swift. Lamerton were playing good flowing football and Swift again fed Paul Cowling, who beat the keeper from inside the box. When Pete Broomfield intercepted a back header to bag the fourth before half time the game looked safe for the visitors. They were, however, in for an uncomfortable second half as the home side, with the benefit of slope and breeze and egged on by a baying crowd, fought for everything. Tempers were becoming frayed but Lamerton dug in well with Steve Gibbings battling for everything in midfield. Foxhole pulled a goal back when Chris Dingle converted a penalty, but Lamerton bounced back with the best goal of the game. Good play between Steve Roast and Kev Swift sent Pete Broomfield to the by line and his cross was expertly clipped in by Cowling for his second. He was denied a hat-trick by the post before the home side scored their second from a corner in the last minute. It was an encouraging performance from Lamerton who showed great discipline throughout the game.
