IS this a dangerous Place? Last Thursday I was driving from Northlew to Bridestowe at about 5pm. I stopped at the new roundabout at Place Cross to allow a car from the Fowley Cross direction to go towards Okehampton. I glanced to the junction on my left and there was nothing in sight, but by the time I got to the middle of the roundabout a bright blue MPV towing a large trailer shot in front of me doing a good 60 mph. The driver was clearly totally oblivious to the fact he was in a roundabout - luckily I was going slowly or it would have slammed right into me.
A day or so previously we had come up from the Okehampton direction and had commented that it was not a well placed roundabout and looked like a recipe for disaster - little did I know that two days later I was nearly part of such a happening.
