Devon and Exeter three

Lympstone 2

ALTHOUGH South Zeal missed a penalty 10 minutes from time that would have given them all three points this was a far from convincing performance from the home side at the Recreation Ground on Saturday.

In the first half the visitors were the better side as South Zeal struggled for any momentum but the home side took the lead after 15 minutes when a well directed free kick taken by Tom Reilly found Dan Wakeham whose well directed header looped over the Lympstone keeper to give Zeal a less than convincing 1-0 lead.

South Zeal started the second half with more urgency and could have increased their lead but for several missed chances; however, the visitors were always dangerous from free kicks and throw-ins and scored two quick goals within the space of 10 minutes to go 2-1 up.

South Zeal deservedly equalised 15 minutes from time when a good move down the left put Scott Hooper through and his low cross found Harley Cann who finished well from close range.

It was now all South Zeal and with Robbie Sandercock making his presence felt down the left Redd Cann broke clear and was duly brought down in the penalty area, however the resulting penalty was hit over the bar and yet again Zeal had to be content with only a draw at home.
