THE small hand-made book of poems, 'The Wonder of Woolies', (Times, December 11) has been very successful and I have sold £100 worth of copies which were sold at £1 each, although some dontated more.

I will be giving a cheque for £100 to the Childrens Hospice shop next week from Riverside Creative Projects, my charity bank account.

If there is further demand for the booklet after Woolies closes in seven days' time I am considering printing it. I am very disappointed that we did not retain our successful branch of this much loved chainstore and feel that it will leave a big gap in Tavistock's High Street.

I understand that the Woolies staff contributed themselves this year to the Christmas lights in Tavistock. It was not possible to do a collection for them as I asked if that was possible.

I am grateful to everyone who contributed their poems from Tavistock and Plymouth and who helped to put the booklet together. Something small and good did come from it with the donation to the Children's Hospice.

I assume if it is seven days to closing the store will close on Boxing Day. How sad.
