AFTER working for many years on nights, and now retired, I thought it was time to check out Tavistock Goose Fair.

I've never been so disappointed in my life. What I found was tacky and pointless! I was expecting something traditional and, which one would expect from the name Goose Fair.

For example, sheep dogs working with geese, vintage tractors perhaps. Would it be too much to ask to have a connection with agriculture or small holders?

I found two geese in guess the weight competition and was told that somewhere over the other side of town there was a goose sale. But no signs or information regarding this. What we got was fairground rides taking up all of Bedford square plus a car-park full of other fairground rides etc. A road full of tacky stalls and every other selling hot-dogs.

Come on, Tavistock,, give us a break and use a bit more imagination in the future. Get back to the basics of what a traditional Goose Fair should all be about.
