Tavistock Ladies?

1st XI 1

Chudleigh 2

THIS tough league match against Chudleigh opened with Tavistock on the attack with good passes from Laura Stapleton, Fiona Dunn and Susannah Boulle.

Lisa Butler made good crosses across into the D but the speed of Emma White and Jo Gaspar was not quick enough. Chudleigh appeared more determined than Tavistock. The ball was cleared by the opposition and the midfield play of Susannah Boulle and Sandra Collar had to work hard to send the ball back to Laura Armstrong.

Chudleigh entered the D and Babs Horton made good clearances. They had a few shots at goal which keeper Soozi Baggs cleared calmly.

A short corner was awarded against Tavistock and the opposition took a direct shot and it slipped into the goal.

The second half showed a more determined Tavistock and again despite the ball predominantly always being in the opposition's D the forwards could not find the space they were looking for.

Some Tavistock players were looking tired and this meant Stapleton, Boulle and Dunn had to work even harder. Zoe Voggers blocked tackles superbly. Tavistock were awarded numerous short corners as Gaspar worked hard to drive the ball into the goal. White slipped the ball to Gaspar who scored the first goal for Tavistock.

Tavistock were hungry for another goal, yet again possession was lost through poor footwork and not securing the ball with the stick.

Chudleigh had a break and despite the calls of clearing the ball wide, the ball was pushed back into the D and they scored again.

Tavistock were disappointed with this result as it did not display the standard of hockey they have been playing.
