BUSINESS was brisk at Lifton Farm Shop's splendid stall and display in the flower and garden show.

The competition theme for the large gardens was 'Dig for Victory' — and the Lifton team deservedly scooped the golden medal for their fantastic display.

The display was complemented by the war-time outfits worn by Marcia Smith, Sarah Courtice and Adam Mounce (above right), who were coping with roaring trade dressed as a soldier and landgirls.

Marcia said the display took hours to set up — but it had been worth it.

'We got the gold so we are really chuffed. It's quite difficult for us to get really good competition results because we are in the flower tent, but Dig for Victory was really about what we do, growing fruit and vegetables, and people have really loved it.

'All the old people have been saying they remembered how it used to be and how authentic the display was — and they loved the tractor!'

Marcia said Lifton Farm Shop always tried to make a real effort with its displays — and they loved going to the shows.

'I've been so excited about coming here, I've really been looking forward to it. You meet new customers and then they come out to the shop and they remember you — it's really good.'
