SHOPPERS packed into Tavistock on Friday night for the annual Dickensian Evening which has been hailed as a great success.
Thousands of people came to enjoy the sights and sounds of the Christmas shopping event and the switching on of the festive lights and the Trees of Light on the town hall.
There were also plenty of other attractions including donkeys, Morris dancers, fairground rides, a steam roller, street entertainers, carol singers and a stage with performers including the town band.
The town's shops had really pulled out all the stops to impress with their shop window designs and Tavistock was full of festive spirit.
Mayor of the town Harry Smith said he was delighted with the whole event which attracted substantial crowds into Tavistock.
