YELVERTON Golf Club's Ladies' guest day, a greensome competition, was played on July 12. The course was in superb condition and the sun shone warmly on all 52 competitors.

Winners were Di Friend and Patty McPhie, her guest from Thurlestone, and runners-up were Belinda McSherry and Gill Down, her guest from Holsworthy.

The July stableford and Cancer Relief spoon competition was played on July 19. the silver division was won by Laura Eastwood with 36 points and the runner up was Di Friend with 33 points. The bronze division was won by Annie Marshall — who won the Cancer Relief spoon — with 37 points and runner up was Trudi Luke with 36 points.

Congratulations go to Laura Eastwood who is the 2001 South West Under 19 champion. The championships were played at the Salisbury and South Wiltshire golf course, where Laura defended her 2000 title with scores of 77 and 73 (SSS 73). Her score of 73 is the new course record.

Congratulations also to Belinda McSherry, Karen Friendship and Barbara Perriton, who have been selected to play in the Devon County's Second Team at Tehidy later this summer.
