Although this match is a friendly the county ladies will want to beat the men and the Devon ladies are a strong team.
The match will start with the vice-president of the Tavistock club, Tom Sharp, welcoming the teams to Tavistock and handing the green over to Roger for the game.
Each year the Devon president chooses a charity for the county to support.
This year Roger has chosen the Devon Air Ambulance. Cash collected from bowlers during the season will be handed over to a representative of that charity at the annual meeting and luncheon of the DCBA at the ISCA centre, Exeter Arena in
November.
Sponsors for that charity include the Bedford Hotel, which has offered a one-night stay for two guests to include breakfast and a four course dinner, La Cache, of Brook Street, which donated a Basler scarf, MKM Marketing and Promotions Ltd, who have given £2,000 of holiday vouchers plus several special offers and Jack and Jill's Fish Restaurant of West Street, who offered a meal for two persons. These prizes will be raffled during this season.
On the bowling front, Devon's Middleton Cup team on Saturday at Bristol Bowling Club defeated Somerset on all six rinks, earning a points total of 22.
The regional final of the Middleton Cup takes place between Devon and Cornwall at Exonia Bowling Club, Union Road, Exeter, on Saturday July 6 at 2pm. It will attract a big crowd as the winner goes through to the national finals at Worthing.
