The Plymouth and West Devon Talking Newspaper welcomed two guests to its studio in Tavistock last Thursday. Colin Bond and Roger Short attended the evening's recording session to present the Talking Newspaper with a cheque for £1,000 raised by the Devon Mark Charity Association, a charity where all monies are donated by the members themselves. Sue Jarvis, features editor, who received the cheque on behalf of the Talking Newspaper, said they were grateful to all members for the substantial donation. 'As we are in the process of offering our free weekly editions on CD as well as cassette this generous donation will certainly help towards the purchase of the necessary new equipment.' The Plymouth and West Devon Talking Newspaper offers a free weekly edition of local news not usually heard on radio or TV, interviews, features and magazine items. Any blind or visually impaired person who would like more information on how to receive these copies should contact the charity secretary, Chris Dicker, on 01822 612102. The talking newspaper was recommended to the Devon Mark Charity Association by the Worshipful Commander and Brethren of the Russell Royal Ark Mariner Lodge No 23, who meet in Tavistock.
