A PUPIL of Bere Alston Primary School has had his artwork included in the booklet accompanying a CD of children's poetry produced by Oxfam.

Jack Kerswill's design was one of a limited number chosen from more than 1,000 entries for a competition to design a CD cover to feature in a booklet of children's work to go with the CD. Money from the sale will go towards overcoming poverty around the world.

The CD features 40 of the most popular children's poets reading their own work.

Children's laureate Michael Rosen helped Oxfam recruit the poets, who recorded for free, and publishers waived copyright fees, keeping costs to a minimum.

The Oxfam bookshop in North Street, Tavistock stocks the CD, which costs £4.99.

Bookshop volunteer Jacky Rushall, in charge of the children's section, is also a speaker who can offer workshops or assemblies on themes, along with two other colleagues. They can be contacted on 01822 616273.
