TAVISTOCK were down to nine players and from the start the home side pushed hard into the home's 'D' the defence of Mills-Hicks, Evan, Colston and Boulle held firm.
Within ten minutes Truro had scored a goal from an acute angle. This galvanised the visitors to work even harder. Mills-Hicks linked well with Killingbeck on the left. Killingbeck made some superb runs down the pitch outpacing the defence and taking the ball right to the opposition's D. Gaspar was then in place to take the pass and strike at goal.
Armstrong was ever present in the middle for Tavistock distributing the ball well. Once in possession of the ball the away side's stick skills were great and they were able to scythe through the home side's defence.
Tavistock were awarded a number of penalty corners and from the second they equalised. Gaspar received the hit out, slipped it to Armstrong who struck powerfully into the back of the net.
Truro were down to ten players for a time after having a player yellow carded but they still could not capitalise on their superior numbers. The away side were forced to defend some penalty corners but the fast running of Evans and tight goal keeping by Viggars prevented them from scoring.
At half time the score was still level. Tavistock returned with great optimism and had the advantage of a low sun behind them.
For Tavistock Mills-Hicks was playing with more confidence and put in some superb tackles. On the right Colston pushed up to link with McClumpha who ran the ball to the 'D' and put in some great crosses and Gaspar and Killingbeck were always there to try and connect with them. Despite being awarded more penalty corners the away side were unable to convert any of them.
The home side continued to attack and were rewarded when they took the lead.
However, Tavistock came back and with Armstrong throwing herself at every ball it wasn't long before she was able to strike at goal from close range. A defender got her stick in the way but only succeeded in deflecting it into her own goal.
Viggars for Tavistock made some great saves to continue to keep the away side in the game and Evans made some timely clearances for a deserved point.
