Tavistock Ladies 7
Okehampton 3
BOTH teams started out with the determination to take control of the game. Oke cut out many of the home sides attacking moves with good tackling. They distributed the ball well and put the Tavistock defence under pressure.
The home side took the lead from a Killingbeck goal; this was followed shortly after by McClumpha firing in the second.
Oke were still proving problematical for the home's defence with Moppet slicing through the Tavistock defence in an excellent solo run which was finished with a cracking shot into the back of the net.
Tavistock responded with some good crosses by McClumpha into the 'D' but Gawman and Gaspar was just unable to connect with them.
Oke continued to make life difficult for the Tavistock defence but Viggars having a superb game in goal kept out all shots on goal.
From the start of the second half the home side really took control of the game. Their passing and possession was much improved. White and McClumpha played well on the right and linked with Gaspar up front. Tavistock were awarded a penalty corner which was converted by Armstrong. Not long after McClumpha got her second with a great reverse stick flick.
Oke were now finding it difficult to make the breaks through.
Tavistock were given another penalty corner which was deftly put past the goalkeeper by Stapleton.
Gawman got the next goal for the home side from a goalmouth scramble.
Oke were still finding it difficult to get into the Tavistock 'D' but their persistence paid off with a goal from Jane Jones.
The game was still going the home side's way when Stapleton put a great through ball the centre to Gaspar who deftly finished. Tavistock then began to lose their formation and this allowed Oke the chance to pull back another goal courtesy of Moppet. This ended an enjoyable and well fought derby game.
