A DAZZLING display of beautiful blooms met visitors to St Andrew's Church recently, which was the setting for the annual South Tawton Flower Festival. The theme of this year's event was 'Showtime' — which provided plenty of inspiration for the exhibitors. From the chimney pots and kite of Mary Poppins, the hat of My Fair Lady and the organ pipes of Phantom of the Opera, to a chessboard created by local schoolchildren to represent the musical Chess, each floral exhibit represented hours of work and a high level of creativity which was much appreciated by visitors to the show. And the many visitors did not leave the event thirsty or hungry, as there were plenty of refreshments on offer in the adjacent Church House. Complementing the flower show were an exhibition of art in the Church House, an evening of entertainment with the 'showtime' concert and a 'Songs of Praise in the church on the Sunday evening. The show was organised by Ann Crawford and raised more than £1,500 for church funds. A huge thank you goes to organisers and supporters of this successful and popular event.
