Duchy one
Gunnislake 10
Delabole 1
AFTER suffering their first defeat of the season the previous Saturday, Gunnislake returned to winning ways, and did so with this emphatic victory.
The home side raced in to a three-goal lead before the visitors scored their solitary goal on 20 minutes. By the turnaround Gunnislake had added a fourth.
Gunnislake dominated the second half, keeper Andy Woodward being reduced to a virtual spectator and when he did get involved his role was more akin to that of a defensive sweeper.
Although the final scoreline may suggest otherwise, Delabole showed good character and battled all the way. Indeed five of Gunnislake's goals were not scored until the final 15 minutes.
Paul Tomkies, playing his final match before returning to university, was in excellent form and struck four times. Fellow strike partner Chris Keeler was unfortunate only to get a solitary goal, but was involved in the build-ups to many of the other goals.
The other goals all came from midfielders. Joe Pulley scored once with Steve Gaggini and Andy Southcott each grabbing themselves a brace, Southcott's strikes each being particularly impressive on a day when the majority of his team's goals were good in quality.
This Saturday Gunnislake turn their attentions to cup action when they travel to St Columb for a Junior cup first round tie.
