Upottery 2 Okehampton Argyle Res 3 ON a sodden pitch Argyle started very well with Anstey and Hampson causing the home defence problems down the flanks. Soon their persistence earned Okehampton a free kick just outside the box. Ditchburn crossed the resulting free kick into the area and in the goalmouth melee the ball fell to Hampson, who hooked it over his shoulder and into the roof of the net. Unbeaten Upottery then realised this was not going to be as easy a match as they had once thought and began to up their work rate. The next 20 minutes belonged to Leyman in Okehampton goal. His outstanding display of goalkeeping kept Okehampton in the match, but even with all his efforts Upottery still managed to level. Okehampton once again dug in and took the lead, when a cross from the right was nodded in by Argyle?s captain Ditchburn. But before half time Upottery once again drew level. The second half saw a much better performance by Argyle. King and Harris were soon controlling the midfield which made life a lot easier for their back four. The front duo of Callaghan and Williams continued causing their hosts? defence all sorts of problems which enabled Okehampton to push on in search of a winning goal. The final goal came midway through the second half when King, who was on the ground at the time, somehow managed to place the ball beyond the keeper and into the to corner of the goal from 10 yards out, giving Okehampton a 3-2 lead. The last 20 minutes saw a well disciplined performance by Argyle?s defence, whose splendid efforts kept their opponents at bay. At the final whistle, Okehampton had made sure they had won by a lot of hard work and determination. This week away, Sampford Peverell.
