Tavistock Town U14s 7
Woolwell U14s 0
AFTER a patchy start Tavistock took full control with Doyle benefitting from Lyle's passing to score two goals.
Neat inter-passing between McCall and Smith followed by a good cross saw Coulston score from close range and with Tavistock's defence breaking down Woolwell attacks Webber was never threatened in goal.
The second half started with a move involving strikers Lyle and Coulston that brought a great save from the Woolwell keeper. Shortly afterwards the nature of the match changed completely with a series of red cards that saw McCall and Bray sent off for Tavistock as well as a Woolwell player.
Tavistock's nine men dug deep against Wollwell's ten and soon a through ball from Coulston gave Lyle the chance to make it 4-0. Tavistock's players showed skill, concentration and commitment and even with some now playing out of position continued to threaten more goals. After Doyle was brought down in the box Coulston scored a penalty.
Taylor came on as substitute. Hammond scored with a well struck shot from long range and, after a beautiful ball from Johnston, Lyle rounded the keeper to make it 7-0.
The bedrock of this excellent win was Tavistock's defence, where Smurden and Derbyshire excelled.
Man of the match: Kieren Lyle. Manager's man of the match: Andrew Derbyshire.
U11s Ajax League
Tavistock Town FC 8
Railway Beacon 1
HAVING managed a hard draw last week, Tavistock went into this game with more confidence.
The match started evenly but Tavistock began to get on top and were rewarded with a goal after ten minutes. This settled Tavistock who began to play good football and with it came more goals - by half-time they were leading 5-0.
Although the final score would indicate a one-sided match that was far from the case as Railway Beacon had their share of attacks and put the Tavistock defence under pressure. From one attack they scored their goal.
Tavistock, even with the three subs playing, kept in total control and were attacking well when the final whistle went.
Two players by their commitment were deemed to have earned the titles of man of the match, Josh Robins chosen by the opposition and Paul Wearing, manager's man of the match.
This week Tavistock are away to AFC Plympton, kick-off 1pm.
