Tavistock RFC U15s 12 Barnstaple RFC U15s 10 IN a match dominated by the forwards, where Tavistock?s man of the match George Harold and Rollo Whitehouse stood out, the home team?s superior defence proved to be the deciding factor. After some scrappy play, Tavistock worked the ball across the pitch where scrum half Niall Murphy made an excellent run down the wing before being forced into touch 10 metres from the line. From the resulting lineout the visitors knock back was not gathered and Tom Rickard scooped up the loose ball to go over for the first try which Josh Leeson coolly converted. Tavistock were now making breaks but couldn?t apply the finish and the visitors hit back with a try in the corner. A Tavistock scrum on halfway saw Barnstaple turn it over and feed the ball along the line to score their second try. A break by James Lockley saw him forced out 10 metres from the line and from the lineout the Tavistock forwards stole the ball and drove Mark Friend over to score for the second match running. Following several rucks, a kick up the line saw James Lockley hack to the goal area and drop on the ball but the try was disallowed by the referee as he was deemed to have gone over the dead ball line.
