WEST DEVON planners will decide next week whether to demolish the public conveniences in Mill Road, Okehampton, which were closed last year because of cuts.
Planning officers said the loss of the building would not have a significant detrimental impact upon the Conservation Area, as it was relatively modern and did not have architectural merit.
The Mill Road toilets were one of three public conveniences proposed for closure in the borough last year, as West Devon Borough Council strived to make savings.
Town and parish councils were also asked to contribute towards keeping other public loos open.
Borough councillor Christine Marsh said the toilets were in need of revamping and were becoming an eyesore. It was decided to close them, as there would be new toilets in the area when the Mill site was redeveloped in 18 months' time.
Cllr Marsh said the aim was to provide a coach parking area in the Mill Road car park in the future if it was suitable.
