POLICE sealed off part of Buctor Park in Tavistock last week after the body of a 60-year-old man was found at his home.

Police were called at 5pm on Tuesday March 20 after a neighbour noticed blood on the footpath outside the property. Police found the man's body and the area was sealed off while enquiries were made.

Police named the deceased as William John 'Paddy' Campbell and said he was originally from Northern Ireland.

To date, no-one has come forward to say they saw what happened.?Police say it is possible the deceased was injured while on the path outside his home or nearby.

It is believed the deceased was seen during the morning — police are keen to hear from anyone who was in the vicinity of Buctor Park between the evening of Monday March 19 and the evening of Tuesday March 20.

The cause of death will not be known until the full results of a post-mortem examination and, even then, further tests may be necessary.

Because of this, police kept the scene sealed off for several days while enquiries continued in the area. The cordon has now been lifted.

Although the investigation continues, police remain open-minded as to what happened. However, they are stressing that this investigation is not being treated as suspicious at this time.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the police on 101, quoting reference JT/12/350.
